WHIDC Programs

Since its inception in 1978, WHIDC has been dedicated to promoting the development and retention of businesses and jobs in Upper Manhattan and the Western Bronx. Our programs include a micro-business “incubator” at La Plaza De Las Americas, The Business Operating Success System (BOSS), Child Care Business Development and The Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park.

About WHIDC Programs

La Plaza serves as a micro-business “incubator” for between 20 and 50 individuals. It accommodates the vendors market, a NYC Green market as well as cultural and community events.

The Business Operating Success System (BOSS) provides one-on-one business development assistance to micro-businesses in Upper Manhattan and the Western Bronx.

The program has completed 30 cycles, graduating 407 providers, who have opened 237 new childcare businesses, and created 393 new jobs and 1,400 new childcare slots.

The Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park

The Medieval Festival brings to life the customs and spirit of the Middle Ages. Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers, guests and festival goers dress in medieval costume. Visitors are greeted by authentic medieval music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jugglers and jesters.

If you are interested in becoming a non-food vendor, volunteer or to purchase ad space in  festival programs, please contact the organizers.
